I had a dream that it was my sister’s funeral. She died in March of this year. It’s now December. In real life my sister was cremated but in my dream it was an open body casket and my mom and my brother in law lifted her up, during her funeral, and her right eye fell out first. Then her left eye fell out. It was traumatizing and I sobbed the entire rest of the dream.this isn’t the first dream I’ve had about her funeral where it was an open casket.
Dreams about the loss of a loved one, especially after a significant death, can often be reflections of your own emotions and processing of grief. In your dream, the presence of your sister's open casket suggests that you may still be grappling with her absence and the finality of her death. The imagery of her eyes falling out can symbolize a feeling of loss not only of her physical presence but also of the way you perceive her spirit or essence. Eyes often represent perception and how we see the world; their loss could signify feelings of confusion or a changed perspective on life without her.
Your traumatic reaction in the dream, sobbing for the rest of it, indicates that the feelings associated with your sister's passing are still very raw and intense for you. Dreams like this may arise as a way for your mind to process unresolved grief, lingering feelings of sadness, or even unresolved issues related to your relationship with her.
The recurrence of such dreams suggests that your subconscious may still be trying to work through your loss and find a way to understand your feelings related to her death. It might be helpful to allow yourself to feel and express these emotions, whether through talking with friends or family, seeking support from a counselor, or finding expressive outlets such as writing or art. Remember, it's normal to experience a wide range of emotions during the grieving process, and dreams can be a way of processing these complex feelings.
